Whenever I’m uncertain about my listening habits, I pop back over to Last.fm. That site is kind enough to remind me that, yes, I do listen to Huey Lewis more than any other artist (and that I’ve had the Back to the Future soundtrack in nearly every playlist I’ve made for the past ever).

This is exactly as it should be.

If at any point your dreams seem impossible, if you are ever discouraged in your daily life, remember one important thing:

Huey Lewis was so popular that he appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone at least twice.

If this former math nerd from Lawrenceville could go on to conquer the pop charts all through the 1980s, then you can do whatever you wish with your life. If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.

Huey Lewis and the News, “Couple Days Off”

If you’ve had the week I had, you need this song. If you didn’t have the week I had, you probably still need this song. In fact, it’s Friday, so what you really need is to turn up your speakers and play this tune as loud as possible.

The weekend is but a few hours away, ladies and gents. Get excited!
