Logan’s Run remake set to start production next year

The retool of cult classic Logan’s Run will begin production in 2012 according to its producer, Joel Silver.

‘We’re really excited about the potential of that movie, ” Silver told Total Film. “We’re currently working on a script and when we have that we’re all gonna try to get that made  - hopefully next year.”

Silver is getting ready to release Sherlock Holmes 2 in December and reckons he knows a good cinematic duo when he sees them.

Really? Really? Let’s just consider here that Logan’s Run has never been good. It was poor as a novel, ridiculous as a film, and all kinds of chintz as a television program. The idea is preposterous, stuck in a very Population Bomb pessimist’s seventies view of the future. Bryan Singer was smart enough to walk away. Will Refn and Gosling be? Can we get these guys doing anything else with their time? And I do mean anything. I’d take a reboot of Kids Incorporated or a CGI version of Dinosaurs with Gosling as Robbie and Crispin Glover as Earl before I’d want Logan’s Run anywhere near theaters again.

Actually, make that Dinosaurs movie. I’d buy infinity tickets to it.
